How do I set up my first camp?
You start on a wrecked beach with Drifters — unemployed builders who erect everything before you promote anyone to production. The first hour is survival city building, not fleet combat. Anchor everything to your Pirate Camp, the hub every operable building must reach through paths, bridges, or ziplines.
Do01Place enough Tents (or early housing) within Pirate Camp range — eight tents is a common opening target before you unlock better cabins
Do02Build a Woodcutter on fertile ground near trees, then Sawmills beside it — planks are the currency of every later structure
Do03Add a Warehouse beside the saw line so planks buffer instead of blocking output
Do04Cluster Campfires (stew input) with a Galley (stew distribution) near the camp
Do05Set up Moonshine Stills plus a Tavern (booze distribution) before you assign crew to a ship
Do06Demolish the shipwreck for refunded planks once basic connections work
Do07Build a Shallow Pier on coastline flat enough for the starting Landlubber
Connect to the Pirate Camp, not just to each other
Every production building needs a route back to the Pirate Camp. The game auto-suggests connections when you place structures, but always verify — a red No Pirate Camp Connection icon means zero output. Paths can be long if they only carry occasional hauls; what matters is that Galley → Campfire and Sawmill → Warehouse legs stay short because those goods move constantly.
Cluster by function, not by convenience
Group food on one cliff shelf (Campfire, Galley, later Soup Kitchen), lumber on another (Woodcutter, Sawmill, Warehouse), and booze nearby but separate (Moonshine Still, Tavern). Flat beach space is scarce — reserve it for piers, Dry Docks, and later gun towers rather than tents.
Once the camp accepts stew, the next bottleneck is almost always haul distance — which is where Fetchers and Warehouses take over.
What food and housing do pirates need first?
Drifters have no upkeep and build your island. The moment you staff a Woodcutter or Sawmill, you promote Greenhands who consume Stew every minute. Housing sets how many pirates can live on island; without tents or cabins, you cannot assign workers or later crew a ship.
Need
Building role
Beginner priority
Housing
Tents → cabins (Pirate Camp adds capacity)
Before assigning production staff
Food (Stew)
Campfire produces · Galley distributes
Before first Woodcutter shift
Drink (Booze)
Moonshine Still produces · Tavern distributes
Before hiring any ship crew
Higher tiers
Hardtack, rum, fancy clothes (later)
After first ship and Compass unlocks
Production ≠ distribution
Corsair Cove splits manufacturing from delivery. A Campfire cooks stew, but pirates eat only after a Galley (or equivalent distributor) pushes rations into camp range. The same rule applies to Moonshine Still → Tavern. Beginners often fill a Warehouse with booze and wonder why morale crashed — the goods never left storage.
Watch satisfaction while you expand
Assign a Woodcutter before stew flows and satisfaction drops immediately. Pause or lower game speed, confirm Galley links to every Campfire, then resume hiring. In Story mode one Campfire may suffice; Uncharted openings often run two for headroom.
With food stable, logistics — not more lumber — usually becomes the limiting factor.
How do Fetchers and Warehouses work?
Fetchers are haulers you create and assign to colored routes between buildings and Warehouses. Manual micro-hauling does not scale once planks, rope, and sail parts must cross cliff tiers. Path lines show efficiency: green is healthy, yellow is nearing trouble, red means idle buildings or fetchers walking too far.
Situation
Action
Red path on a production building
Add a Warehouse mid-route or move storage closer — check Pirate Camp connection first
Warehouse overflowing
Raise storage cap in Control Resources or add a second Warehouse before producers stop
Goods stuck in storage
Confirm a distributor (Galley/Tavern/Outfitter) is assigned and connected — Fetchers do not feed pirates directly
Multiple Fetchers on one building
Stop — extra Fetchers on the same source building do not speed it up
Expanding to a second cliff tier
Stockpile planks in Warehouse A, run Fetchers to Warehouse B, or add a zipline leg — see vertical building
Long horizontal sprawl
Rebuild clusters instead of stringing single-lane roads across the island
Warehouse placement beats more producers
A Woodcutter → Sawmill → Warehouse triangle within a few tiles outperforms a fourth Sawmill fed by a red path. Rule of thumb from launch-week guides: roughly three resource buildings per Warehouse in an early district. Use Control Resources to cap stacks (the UI allows fifteen goods slots) so one product does not monopolize storage.
When to hire your first Fetchers
As soon as a production line crosses more than a short walk — typically when booze, planks, or charcoal must reach a distant Pier or second camp. Assign paths deliberately; the full create-and-assign flow is on the logistics guide.
Fetchers fixed, the Compass becomes your long-term unlock schedule — not something to ignore until mid-game.
Before your second camp: drill Fetcher paths
Matched by build plan, shared topics, and guide progression — not random related links.
The Technology Compass is Corsair Cove's non-linear tech tree. Four Principles — Wealth, Notoriety, Empire, and Seafaring — each grant buildings, boosters, and ship hulls when you spend points earned from Deeds and regional Ambitions. In Uncharted mode, finishing your first Landlubber opens the journal, Deeds list, and Compass UI; Story mode introduces them along the tutorial arc.
Principle
Early focus
Ship line unlocked
Wealth
Trade, plunder income, fast cash
Reaver hulls (e.g. Moonlight, Sharktooth)
Notoriety
Crew recruitment, worker buffs, entertainment
Prowler hulls
Empire
Gun towers, military goods, direct combat
Destroyer hulls (e.g. Steel Edge, Iron Fist)
Seafaring
Exploration, shipbuilding efficiency
Hunter hulls (e.g. Azimuth, Tide Runner)
Tier costs and your first three points
Each principle has six tiers. Tier 2 hulls require 3 points in that principle (Tier 3 costs 7, Tier 4 costs 12, and so on). Deeds — roughly 160 small tasks like building extra Pirate Camps, producing set goods, or exploring tiles — award one point each. You can mix principles, but spreading points delays your first specialized Tier 2 ship.
Pick a lane before you spend blindly
Sample the intro quest for each principle in your starting region, then commit. Empire suits players who want gun-heavy Iron Fist early; Seafaring suits exploration with Azimuth; Wealth and Notoriety lean raid economy and crew scale. Full node lists live on the tech tree page.
Three Compass points banked, you are one deed away from a real hull — which raises the question of when the starter boat is worth building at all.
When should I build my first ship?
Build the Landlubber once stew, booze, and plank production are stable — not before. The starter hull is weak (low Health, Crew, and Speed) but unlocks sea tiles, Deeds, and event chains. Rushing a Pier while your camp still lacks stew guarantees a crewed ship with a starving island behind it.
Milestone
Why now
Shallow Pier placed
Landlubber requires a pier slot; save flat coast for later Dry Dock
Tavern distributing booze
Assigned ship crew drink booze continuously — same distribution rule as stew
Warehouse buffering planks + rope inputs
Ship parts pull multiple goods; stalls mid-build waste time
Landlubber launched
Opens map exploration, naval events, and Compass deeds in Uncharted
3 points in one principle
Unlock first Tier 2 hull — Reaver, Destroyer, Hunter, or Prowler depending on path
Landlubber now, Tier 2 soon
Do not over-invest in Tier 1 upgrades. Community openings target a Tier 2 specialist — Iron Fist (Empire) for gun damage, Azimuth (Seafaring) for exploration speed, Sharktooth (Reaver) for boarding — within the first few in-game days. Ship stat comparisons and build costs are on ships; naval card play is on combat guide.
Keep rope and sail chains near the Pier
Late beginners build a Pier on one beach and rope workshops on a cliff three tiers away. Either relocate ship-input production or run dedicated Fetcher routes into a Pier-side Warehouse before you queue the Landlubber. When the hull launches, crew assignment and Cohesion costs begin — the topic the next section covers.
How do crew needs and Cohesion work?
Island workers (Greenhands upward) consume camp-ration goods. Ship crew add another layer: they need booze at minimum, better tiers want rum, gear, and luxury goods over time. Cohesion acts as camp morale currency — spent on events, recruitment boosts, and crisis choices — and drops when needs go unmet.
Earned from deeds, events, exploration; spent on choices
Keep a buffer before risky sea events
Promote slowly, supply first
Each promotion raises consumption. A ship crewed with Scallywags needs functioning booze distribution before you send them raiding. Check the crew panel when Cohesion dips — missing stew hurts land production; missing booze hurts anything sailing.
Cohesion is not decorative
Random sea and tavern events offer trades that spend Cohesion for loot, crew, or shortcuts. Running the meter empty removes your safety margin when the Crown probes your island. Detailed tier needs and housing gates are on the crew guide.
Camp and crew stable, scan the mistake list below before you restart — most early wipes are logistics, not combat.
What mistakes stall your first week?
Use this as a pre-expansion checklist. Each row maps a common stall to the fix so you can scan mid-session instead of rereading the whole guide.
Mistake
Fix
Building on every flat tile first
Stack housing and workshops vertically; save coast for piers — vertical building
Skipping Galley or Tavern
Add distributors; Warehouse stock alone does not feed anyone
Extra Fetchers on one building
Reassign to routes; one fetcher per assigned leg is enough
This is Limbic's 2026 city builder — not the RuneScape region
One habit that prevents most stalls
Before placing any new building, ask: Is it connected to Pirate Camp? Is there a distributor for its output? Is there a Warehouse within green-path range? Thirty seconds of planning beats an hour rebuilding cliff roads.
When the loop feels automatic, the natural next read is haul routing — it is where intermediate players still lose hours.
Corsair Cove beginner FAQ
Is Corsair Cove the same as OSRS Corsair Cove?
No. Old School RuneScape has a dungeon region called Corsair Cove (Ogress warriors, The Corsair Curse quest). Corsair Cove the game is a 2026 vertical city builder by Limbic Entertainment — pirates, production chains, and fleet combat on Steam and PC Game Pass.
My Place Your Pier Here / Build Your Pier Here hint is stuck — what do I do?
Update to Patch #1 (1.1.1.241792) or newer (current tip: Patch #2), load the save, then complete the next objective so the safeguard clears outdated hints. Do not rebuild the Pier only to dismiss the banner — full steps on roadmap.
How do I create and assign Fetchers?
Open the logistics UI, create a Fetcher, then paint a colored path between a source building and a Warehouse (or hub). Step-by-step with path-color fixes on logistics guide.
How do I get more pirates early?
Expand Tents and Pirate Camp range so new Drifters can arrive, then promote them only when Galley stew is green. Event rewards and shipwreck survivors add bodies faster — see crew guide for the full Drifter → Greenhand ladder.
How do I get more Fetchers in Corsair Cove?
Fetchers are assigned pirates, not a separate hire menu. Promote a Drifter onto a haul job, keep the path green, and place a Warehouse so they are not walking empty. Full assign / red-path fixes: logistics guide.
What should I build first?
Tents, Pirate Camp links, Woodcutter + Sawmill + Warehouse, Campfire + Galley for stew, Moonshine Still + Tavern for booze, then Shallow Pier and Landlubber.
When does the Technology Compass unlock?
In Uncharted mode, launching your first ship opens the journal, Deeds, and Compass. Story mode walks you through the same systems earlier in the campaign.
What is the best first Tier 2 ship?
Depends on principle: Iron Fist (Empire) for guns, Azimuth (Seafaring) for exploration, Sharktooth (Reaver) for boarding. Compare stats on ships.
Is Corsair Cove on Game Pass?
Yes — PC Game Pass day one alongside Steam, Epic, and Microsoft Store. See homepage FAQ for store links.
How long is Corsair Cove?
20–40+ hours (estimate) for a full Compass run with 62 achievements to chase.
Is there a demo?
